Week 15 Review: Dark Triumph

From Goodreads:
Sybella's duty as Death's assassin in 15th-century France forces her return home to the personal hell that she had finally escaped. Love and romance, history and magic, vengeance and salvation converge in this thrilling sequel to Grave Mercy.

Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. The convent views Sybella, naturally skilled in the arts of both death and seduction, as one of their most dangerous weapons. But those assassin's skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?

My Review
:
Oh, what an amazing, wonderful, fantastic, awesome book! It was just captivating, and I kept turning the pages, till the book was done, because who has the strength to not read this book from cover to cover? Not me, at least!

Like Sybella, I want to say poor Sybella, but she's stronger then that, she doesn't need pity, she needs a purpose, and following what she's told that her dad, god of Death, wants, seems like a pretty great thing.

I loved how much we learned, like more about the marques, because we already knew from Grave Mercy that if the person changed their path, then they could lose the marque. Well, we learned now that the people don't always have to have a marque, and yeah, that's pretty good because that means that when they die, that they won't be accepted into Death's realm, and yeah, that's what Sybella's "dad" totally deserves!!!

This book, I've heard, was described as the more personal book, versus the more political tone of Grave Mercy, because it's about Sybella, and her journey with Beast across the countryside, and the adventures that they have, so while they were Ismae and the court, it wasn't too long, so I hope that they have more time together in Mortal Heart!

Yeah, this book was more about the characters, Sybella, Beast, and we only really met them in Grave Mercy, we didn't really get a chance to know them, and in this book, we get that chance, and that was pretty darned good!

And then the ending! That they're jumping into the river, and then taken out, and yeah, she gets to see her real dad, and become who she wants to be, and yeah, that was just pretty darned epic and readable!

I loved this book, and I can't wait for more!!!
