Week 14 Review: Grave Mercy

From Goodreads:
Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae's most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

My first review of Grave Mercy
My Review:
I loved rereading this book so much! It's been a while since I read it the first time, and I'm going to be reading Dark Triumph soon, so I wanted to have a little refresher! And yeah, this book was just as awesome, if not more so, then the first time, because I knew what was going on!

I just love Ismae, she was downtrodden by life in the beginning, before she was sent to the convent, but when she emerged, well, she was pretty kick ass, though pretty naive about the outside world. But she learns quickly!

I just enjoyed all these characters, Ismae, Duval, Beast, Anne, and a few more, because they were just really so different and real, and I wanted to know more about them and this world, and yeah, I will shortly in Dark Triumph, which I can't wait for!

The ending with her seeing and talking with her dad? That the role that she picks for herself is Death's Mercy, because as it says, all she has to do to serve Death is to live. And that fits Ismae and her upbringing, and her character. I wonder if Sybelle and Annith will get similar titles? And if they do, what will they choose?

This was a really fantastic book, it just loved rereading it, and I really can't wait for Dark Triumph!
