Week 43 Review: Midnight's Daughter

From Goodreads:
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir-half human, half vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing.

Now Dory's vampire father has come back into her life. Her Uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.

Vampires and dhampirs are mortal enemies, and Dory prefers to work alone. But Dracula is the only thing on Earth that truly scares her, so when Dory has to go up against him, she'll take all the help she can get… ...

My Review:
This was such a fantastic book! It was pretty much luck that I read it, someone that had commented on my WoW post, when I went to comment back, had Fury's Kiss, the 3rd book in this series, as their featured book, and it sounded great, so I had to start from the beginning of the series! So I'm so glad that that whole interaction happened!

One thing that was so great about this book, was a combination of things-the humour, the action, the characters, the world-building, and how much was going on. I mean, all these by themselves are really great in books. But when combined, they were just so amazing to read!

I loved reading about Dory and Louis-Cesare! They had such a compelling dynamic, because they're being forced to work together by her dad, and vampires tend to not want to spend time around dhampires. But there's a spark between them, and I just loved watching it flourish!

I think, my favourite character beyond Dory and Louis-Cesare, was Dory's uncle Radu, because he was eccentric, which he can't be blamed for. He does has his flaws, but he was really interesting to read about! I felt sorry for him, what with the various partial destructions around and in his house after the final battles!

This was such a fantastic book, and now I have to read Death's Mistress!
