Week 40 Review: Bitterblue

From Goodreads:
Eight years after Graceling, Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck's reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle--disguised and alone--to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past.

Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck's reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn't yet identified, holds a key to her heart

My Review:
Such a great book! It's been a while, waiting for it, and it was well worth the wait, I mean, just so freaking good, Bitterblue, Saf, and all the other characters-we get to see Katsa and Po interact outside of them, which was just great, and we got to see Fire! Such a great book!

I loved all the mysteries that Bitterblue discovered, from why Saf and gang stole some of the gargoyles, why her advisers lied about it, why people were weird, though for most, the reason is simple-Leck, and what he did to him/what he made them do. Yeah.

I really loved the romance, that with Saf, and then there was honest conversation with Giddon, and yeah, while there wasn't actual romance between them, there was a great chemistry, they got together well, and I think they could fall in love with each other, especially with what happened to him in this book (finding out about Po's Grace, what the Middlun's king did to him and his land) and yeah, that is just a potential possibility.

I loved Death, pronounced Deeth, rhymes with teeth, and his grace, and yeah, he's a librarian, so he's surrounded by books, which is just freaking awesome! Oh, and how he has his cat, and in the back, with the who's who, that he created at behest of Bitterblue, that was hilarious!

Loved this book so much, it was just so great!
